Rear-End Crash Near Disney World Kills Bicyclist from Colombia
According to responding troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol, a bicyclist was killed late last week during an accident with a vehicle near Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orange County.
Initial auto accident reports from the Florida Highway Patrol state that it was close to 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2023, when a driver and passenger from North Carolina were travelling in the westbound direction of Osceola Parkway in a Toyota Tundra pickup truck. As the out-of-town couple approached the area between Victory Way and World Drive, they encountered a 53-year-old man from Colombia who was riding a bicycle along the exit ramp for Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
For reasons that are currently unknown, but will certainly be sorted out by the Florida Highway Patrol, the Toyota Tundra crashed into the bicyclist’s back tire which then caused the 53-year-old man to be thrown from his bike onto the roadway.
Several Orange County emergency response teams and members of the Florida Highway Patrol were dispatched to the crash site and immediately called for a medevac transport to Osceola Regional Hospital. He was unable to survive his life-threatening injuries and passed away shortly upon arrival.
The driver and passenger from the Toyota Tundra were unharmed during the collision and remained at the scene of the accident. They were said to be in full cooperation with local authorities.
No further updates have been released at this time.
