Pinellas County Hit-and-Run Collision Seriously Injures Bicyclist
Authorities with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office are currently requesting the public’s assistance with the identification of a hit-and-run driver who severely injured a bicyclist Thursday night in Safety Harbor.
It was approximately 9:14 p.m. on March 9, 2023, when 36-year-old Mindy Miran Yi was riding her bicycle in the westbound direction of Enterprise Road, according to preliminary reports from deputies with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. As she approached the intersection of Enterprise Road and Fernery Lane, she was struck by an oncoming vehicle that fled the scene of the crash immediately after it occurred.
The impact from the collision caused the 36-year-old bicyclist to be ejected from her bike onto a patch of grass along the shoulder of the road. Officers with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area and found the hit-and-run victim suffering from severe injuries. She was transported to a nearby hospital where she continues to fight for her life.
Surveillance video footage from traffic cameras and nearby businesses did not capture the incident, however, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has stated that the hit-and-run suspect’s vehicle would have damage to the passenger’s side headlight. If you have any information regarding this collision, please contact your local law enforcement agency or the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

With its warm & welcoming climate nearly year-round, the state of Florida has long been a top destination for tourists, retirees, and other residents who simply want to enjoy some fun in the sun. Our highways, tollways, and interstates have reflected such an influx of individuals, with most local municipalities installing separate bicycle lanes and designated pedestrian crosswalk areas. Sadly, even with the best accident prevention systems in place, hit-and-run collisions involving bicyclists and pedestrians still occur at an alarming high rate.
