Woman Taken Into Custody for Two Hit-and-Run Accidents in Lehigh Acres
A 33-year-old Florida driver faces multiple felony charges after her alleged connection with two hit-and-run collisions last weekend in Lehigh Acres.
According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, it was approximately 5:35 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, 2023, when a 27-year-old man from Cape Coral was driving an ATV along the shoulder of the road in the northbound direction of Harvest Avenue near Grafton Street in Lehigh Acres. Troopers indicate that the driver of the ATV attempted a U-turn, which ultimately positioned his vehicle in the direct path of 33-year-old Amber Jean Tremblay, who was also traveling in the northbound direction of Harvest Avenue in a Dodge Challenger. Neither driver was able to avoid a collision and the two vehicles were involved in a T-bone crash.
Immediately after the initial hit-and-run occurred, Amber Jean Tremblay left the scene of the accident in a different vehicle. An undetermined amount of time later, she was involved in another collision with the second car at the intersection of Bell Boulevard and Meadow Road. Tremblay fled the crash site on foot.
The 27-year-old driver of the ATV sustained serious injuries during the collision and was transported by local emergency responders to Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers. He remained in the hospital over the weekend and was released on Tuesday.
For almost two days, Amber Jean Tremblay managed to elude authorities until Tuesday night when she was pulled over for a traffic stop on Buckingham Road in Lehigh Acres. Tremblay was arrested and taken into custody where she faces felony charges of leaving the scene of a crash with serious injuries, driving with a suspended license causing serious injuries, and driving with a suspended license – third offense. She will remain at the Lee County Jail until her scheduled court appearance next Wednesday morning.
