Two Die in Crash Near Orange Blossom Trail in Orange County

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on December 5, 2018

A crash that took place on the evening of Saturday, December 1st, resulted in the deaths of two individuals who were traveling within Orange County. According to troopers speaking on behalf of the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident took place around to 8:45 at night, close to or at the intersection of Orange Blossom Trail and Barely Club Drive.

Two cars were involved: a Cadillac and a Kia. No information regarding the make or year of the car was included in the initial report. The Cadillac was driving down the northern lane of Orange Blossom Trail and the Kia was in a western lane of Barley Club Drive. It is not clear if the Kia was stopped at the intersection or if was stopped somewhere else along the road.

Official reports suggest that the driver of the Cadillac was piloting their car at a rate of speed well above the posted limit. It was as they reached the intersection of Orange Blossom Trail and Barely Club Drive that the driver of this car then somehow lost control of their vehicle. The report failed to state any reasons for this loss of control, and we are currently in the dark as to whether it was the result of a distraction, medical emergency, or some sort of obstacle within the roadway itself. It is, of course, also possible that the driver of this car was traveling at such an outrageously high speed that a thing like a standard curve in the roadway resulted in an inability to retain control over the vehicle.

Regardless of the reason, the Cadillac’s tires hit the curb beside the road. This caused the Cadillac to then depart from Orange Blossom Trail and enter Barely Club Drive, still traveling at a high rate of speed. The front of the Cadillac then collided directly with the Kia’s left side.

Due to the force of the crash, both the driver and the passenger within the Kia suffered from fatal injuries. It is not clear if they were declared dead at the scene of the crash or if they were able to be transported from the area to a hospital before they died.

The driver of the Cadillac only suffered from minor injuries.

An investigation into the incident remains underway and charges are pending.
