Several Injured, Including Two Children, in Two Car Crash in Orlando.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding a multi-vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of East Colonial Drive and Belvedere Road on Sunday Morning. Although the information released by the Florida Highway Patrol and the Orange County Sheriff’s office has been scant, there are a few facts that have been distributed for public consumption.
According to statements made by the Florida Highway Patrol and the Fire Rescue service serving Orlando, the accident took place close to 10:00 in the morning on Sunday. The statement goes on to indicate that the first calls alerting emergency services to the accident were received by the Fire Rescue team at about 9:00am. Crews were immediately dispatched to East Colonial Drive and Belvedere Road, where the accident was reported to have taken place. When they arrived, the emergency response teams found two vehicles in a state of disarray.
One of the vehicles had flipped completely over, trapping its inhabitant inside. Utilizing their formidable training, the emergency response teams worked to free the individual from the vehicle. The second vehicle had not flipped, making it easier to remove the victims from its interior. The individual removed from the first vehicle was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, where they are currently undergoing treatment and observation.
As well as the adult taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center, two children were involved in the accident. Neither their exact ages nor their names have been released, but it is known that they were taken to the Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital for treatment. The current status of the hospitalized adult and the two children is not publicly available.
After the initial rescue operations were performed by the Fire Rescue teams, the entire case was handed over to the Florida Highway Patrol for more in-depth investigation. Currently, there is no more information available regarding just what occurred on Sunday. Among the facts that will likely be released soon are the names of those involved, the suspected reasons behind the crash, and the charges—if any—that will be handed over to certain individuals deemed responsible for the incident itself.
