Multi-Vehicle Crash in Tampa Leaves One Dead, Unknown Number Injured

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on August 14, 2019

During the afternoon of Monday, August 5th, emergency response crews rushed to I-75 in Tampa in response to reports of an auto accident involving numerous vehicles. According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident took place around 2:30 – fortunately before rush hour traffic would have made it so that the highway was even more congested with vehicles.

Little is currently known about the accident itself, and the preliminary reports failed to state just how many vehicles were involved, what sorts of vehicles, and how many people were traveling inside of these vehicles. There are, however, aerial pictures of the aftermath of the crash, and from these we are able to piece together certain pieces of information – although, it is still the case that most of the pertinent details remain undisclosed at the time of this writing.

In the pictures, we can see at least five vehicles that appear to be involved in the crash. One is a sedan, one is a pickup truck, two are SUVs, and one is a large dump truck. The dump, lying on its side, is at the center of the pile of cars. Its front end is crumpled, and from its massive bed what appears to be a load of dirt has spilled all over the roadway. It is not known if the soil was clean or if it was contaminated with oil or some other toxic substance.

The cars are difficult to make out, obscured as they are by the dump truck. It does appear though that at least two of the cars – the sedan and the pickup – suffered from damage to their front ends.

The reports from the authorities also indicated that at least one person was killed in the accident, although there was no word on the name or other identifying features of the deceased individual. It is also not clear if anyone else was injured in the incident. Given the severity of the accident as it appears in photographs, it seems likely that numerous injuries were sustained by those involved, although there are no reports from the responding authorities to confirm this.
