Lake County Turnpike Crash Leaves One Dead

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on May 10, 2019

Officers with the Florida Highway Patrol working within Lake County have issued a report on a deadly incident that happened shortly before noon on Friday, May 10th, and resulted in the death of one individual. According to these reports, the auto accident happened along the southern lanes of the Florida Turnpike, within the limits of Clermont inside of Lake County. It is believed that only two cars were involved in the crash.

At the time of this writing, there initial reports are all we possess regarding publicly available information. These reports are far from complete in their scope and leave many questions unanswered. What we do know is that the accident involving the two cars happened within the southern lanes of the Florida Turnpike, close to where it crosses State Road 50. It is not known if either of the drivers involved were under the influence of any substances or if either were speeding. It is also not known if this was a rear-end, head-on, or side-impact collision (although, given the fact that both of the cars were traveling in the same direction it does seem likely that they did not strike one another head-on).

After the crash, authorities working with the Florida Highway Patrol as well as rescue crews operating within Clermont and Lake County rushed to the scene of the accident in order to try and aid the injured parties. When these rescue crews arrived, they found that one of the individuals involved had suffered from only minor injuries while the other had suffered severely. Both were taken to a hospital for treatment. It was reported that the severely injured driver was not able to recover after the crash. She was declared dead sometime after arriving at the hospital.

The other driver is believed to be recovering from their injuries.

It is not clear now if the Florida Highway Patrol are filing any charges against the surviving individual in the crash nor if it is even believed that this person was in any way at fault for the fatal accident. Any updates of particular note will be posted along this blog as well as in other news sources.
