Collision Between Two Cars in Orange County Leaves One Dead, Two Injured
A crash that took place within Orange County on Saturday, June 30th, has resulted in the untimely death of one person and the serious injury of at least two others. Initial reports on the crash came from the Florida Highway Patrol. Their report stated that the accident happened shortly after 1:00 in the afternoon, around where Pine Hills Road and Indian Hills Road intersect.
While the incident is still under investigation, we do know that it involved a Honda van and an Infiniti of an unknown model. The Honda was driving northbound down Pine Hills Road’s leftmost lane. As the driver of the Honda neared the intersection of Pine Hills Road and Indian Hills Road, they prepared to make a left turn off of the one street and onto the other. It is not clear if the area where the two roads intersect is located on a curve or if excessive foliage makes it so that seeing oncoming traffic is difficult, but it appears that at the same time as the driver of the Honda began to make the turn the Infiniti was coming down the southbound lanes of Pine Hills Road.
The Honda’s driver turned their car directly into the path of the oncoming Infiniti, and the reports indicate that the Infiniti’s driver was not able to slow their car down or avoid the oncoming vehicle. Instead, the two cars collided, and the Honda crashed into the Infiniti’s left side, shoving the car off of the roadway and into a nearby pole. When the Infiniti hit the pole, it overturned.
Emergency response vehicles were called into the scene by an unknown person—either a witness or one of the participants. When they arrived, they found that the Infiniti was carrying three people, and that one of them was clearly suffering from some serious injuries. This person was taken via ambulance to a nearby hospital. They were pronounced dead sometime after arriving at the medical facility.
The other passenger and the driver of the Infiniti were also seriously injured in the crash. They were taken to nearby hospitals as well and are currently receiving treatment. It is not clear if they are in stable condition or if they continue to be in an uncertain state.
The driver of the Honda walked away from the incident without any noticeable injuries.
