Child Dies in Two Car Jacksonville, Florida Crash
A two vehicle crash has left one child dead and three others hospitalized – including one in critical condition. The Florida automobile accident happened on Thursday evening on Sunbeam Road near San Jose Boulevard in Jacksonville, Florida. According to the local Sheriff’s office, the accident involved two vehicles, although the cause of the accident and who was at fault remains under investigation.
According to the police report, what is known is that the vehicle traveling on Sunbeam, which included an adult and four children, made a left turn in front of an oncoming vehicle. As a result of the impact, a seven year old child was killed despite efforts by emergency first responders to revive him with CPR at the crash scene. Although the adult driver, who was the mother of the four children, along with the adult driver of the other vehicle were reported to be ok, all four children – ages five to 13, were taken to the hospital.
The police report does not indicate whether or not the children were wearing seatbelts.
Based on the information provided, only the children were brought to the hospital following the accident. However, regardless of how serious the injuries, everyone involved in a Florida motor vehicle accident should always seek immediate medical attention. Thus, in the case at hand, the two adult drivers should have also went to the hospital soon after the accident. Here, the other driver, could have grounds to sue as they were hit as a result of the mother’s making a left turn in front of oncoming traffic. If this driver later develops pain or other injuries – which is often the case with motor vehicle accident injuries – he or she would have grounds to file a personal injury lawsuit and seek compensation for their injuries. However, if they fail to go to a medical professional after the accident, their right to compensation could be jeopardized as the other side could argue that their injuries were not a direct result of the car crash.
