Accident in Orange County Leaves Three Injured
On Saturday afternoon, State Road 528 was the site of yet another devastating car accident. At around 4:30 in the afternoon, and just before the 21st mile marker, a car (which the initial police report did not describe) was traveling westbound on State Road 528 when something occurred either inside the cab or with the operating mechanism of the vehicle that caused the car to suddenly depart from the roadway and drive towards a row of trees at a high rate of speed. Unable to stop in time, the car collided with the trees, badly injuring the driver and causing less severe injuries to both passengers, one of whom was a child.
While it is not clear who called the emergency response teams to the scene, when they arrived the Orange County Fire Rescue worked to remove the three individuals from the car and transport them to nearby hospital. The two adults were both taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center while the child was transported to Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. It is during the admission to the respective hospitals that the driver’s injuries were classified as being critical while the injuries of both the child and the second passenger were indicated to be of a minor sort.
While authorities investigated the site of the accident, State Road 528 was closed in both directions, although it is not clear how far in either way the roads were shut down nor what alternate routes the police provided to motorists.
The investigation into this crash is still underway, with the Orange County Police Department attempting to discover just what occurred that caused the individual behind the wheel to lose control and crash into the trees. It is possible that all the answers to the above questions can be given by the driver of the car, however it is not clear whether or not this individual recovered from their injuries enough to undergo questioning from the police.
While it is fortunate that not more cars were involved in this Orange County crash, the events of past Saturday on State Road 528 will no doubt fundamentally change the lives of the three people involved. Recovery from a crash, even when the injuries are minor or negligible, is still a long and arduous process, and moving beyond the initial accident often poses more difficulties than first anticipated.
