RSSTruck Crosses Center Line, Hits Florida Teen
A 19 year old teenage female was seriously injured in a Florida automobile accident near Pensacola. The accident happened at the intersection of US Highway 98 and Paradise Beach Circle in Escambia County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an oncoming commercial truck driven by a 49 year old male was travelling southbound on US 98 when it crossed the center line. As it crossed the line, the left side of the truck collided with the left tire of a trailer being pulled by a Ford E100 pickup truck driven by a 46 year old male from Gulf Shores Alabama. This initial impact caused the truck to fully cross into the oncoming lane of traffic, where it hit the front of the teen’s 2009 Ford Focus. Learn more about head-on collisions.
After the impact, the two vehicles continued to travel in a northerly direction before leaving the roadway and coming to a stop on the highway’s east shoulder. As it slid onto the shoulder, the Ford Focus collided first with a utility box before hitting a tree line and coming to a stop.
The teenage female was taken to Baptist Hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries. The driver of the pickup truck did not suffer any injuries, while the driver of the truck sustained minor injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol has charged the truck driver with failure to maintain his lane. This means he and his negligent or reckless actions, were the cause of the teenager’s injuries.
