RSSSemi-Truck Erupts in Flames on Florida Turnpike in Orange County
A series of striking images and footage is the greatest descriptor for an event which took place during the early morning hours on Monday, December 7th. These images show a semi-truck located along an Orange County stretch of the Florida Turnpike that was involved in a trucking accident after which the cab of the truck became completely engulfed in flames.
Reports from the Florida Highway Patrol stated that the accident which led to the massive fireball happened shortly before dawn, while the highway was still cloaked in darkness and the lanes relatively free of the traffic that habitually forms along the busy roadway. While the exact circumstances of the crash remain unclear, it is known that a semi-truck was the primary vehicle involved. Because of the apparent lack of other vehicles, it is currently believed that something happened within the electronics or some friction causing element within the truck that caused the fire to break out.
The footage taken at the scene and subsequently released shows the semi-truck sitting on the asphalt, all of its wheels on the ground, and no apparent damage to the cab. In fact, if it weren’t for the massive ball of fire completely surrounding the truck one would not know that there was anything wrong at all.
While there is no indication that an accident caused the crash, we do know that at the time the fire erupted there was at least one person inside of the truck’s cab. When the fire broke out, this person was still inside of the truck and they were not able to escape the vehicle before suffering some injuries. The extent of these injuries is not believed to be non-life threatening, but severe nevertheless.
Currently, an investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol into the causes of the incident remains underway. Motorists who were passing along this stretch of highway at the time the fire broke out are being encouraged to reach out to authorities to offer any pieces of information they may have regarding the incident.
