RSSMan Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer
In an unfortunate accident on I-10 on the night of Thursday, November 19th, a multi-vehicle accident involving a semi-truck led to one fatality. The crash, which happened around 6 p.m. that evening, created a significant backup in traffic. In fact, all eastbound lanes of the interstate were blocked off for several hours, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The accident occurred in Jacksonville around Chaffee Road, causing drivers to be detoured onto U.S. 90 during the extended road closure. Traffic eventually resumed as normal, after all victims were addressed and the lanes could be cleared by authorities.
According to Florida State Troopers, something appeared to be leaking from the semi-truck when they arrived to investigate the scene of the crash. It is as of yet unknown whether the leakage was from something in the truck’s cargo, or if it was diesel fuel. Fortunately, regardless of the nature of the leaked substance, no further harm was caused to the surviving victims or to the first response teams by its presence.
No other details regarding the vehicles involved in the accident have yet been released to the media. None of the identities of the drivers or the deceased man have been revealed, nor has any information regarding whether anyone else was injured in addition to the fatality. It is also unclear whether man who died was declared deceased at the scene of the accident, or whether he died in the care of a local hospital. A thorough investigation of the crash by the Florida Highway Patrol authorities is still ongoing, and there is no word yet as to what the exact cause of the accident may have been, or whether any particular individual may have been at fault.
