Orlando Woman Walking Bike in Crosswalk Struck by Car
A 37-year old woman was walking her bicycle along 17-92 in Sanford, near Orlando, in early May when she was hit by a car. She was walking her bicycle through a crosswalk when she was hit be a vehicle driving south. Though the vehicle did have a green light, pedestrians still normally have the right of way in a crosswalk.
Semoran Boulevard Pedestrian Deaths
For the past year, Orlando has been working to change issues with its roads that result in pedestrian deaths. On Semoran Boulevard, the most dangerous street in the most dangerous city for pedestrians, there have been more than 25 crashes and six deaths involving pedestrians just in the last seven years. Florida as a whole is the most dangerous state for pedestrians.
Cape Canaveral Pedestrian Accident
On April 24, a pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car in Cape Canaveral. Police said the pedestrian went through the vehicle’s windshield.
Pedestrian Accident in Gainesville
On the first Friday in April, emergency crews were called to Waldo Road in Gainesville after a vehicle hit two people. One of the victims died at the scene, and the other was taken to the UF Health Shands Hospital with critical injuries.
Tampa Woman Killed Crossing Street
On April 7, a woman died in Tampa after a car hit her while she was crossing the street. She and her friend ran across Hillsborough Avenue, but only made it to the outside lane of westbound traffic before she was struck.
Hospital Executive Killed In Tampa Pedestrian Accident
Accidents can happen anytime, and usually when we least expect it. On March 20, a newly retired hospital executive was on vacation in Tampa with his wife when a car hit them while they were walking on the sidewalk. The couple was rushed to the hospital, and though his wife survived, the executive died within hours.
Study Shows Florida Most Dangerous State for Pedestrians
A study from Smart Growth America last year showed that Florida is the most dangerous state in the United States for pedestrians, and the four most dangerous places to walk in the state are Orlando, Tampa, Clearwater and Jacksonville.
Orlando Driver Identified in Tuesday’s Fatal Pedestrian Accident
The driver of the vehicle that struck and fatally injured a 61-year-old man Tuesday night in Orange County has been identified. Jorge Prado, a 20-year-old from Orlando was driving on Sandlake Road around 9 p.m. when he encountered the 61-year-old man. The unidentified victim was trying to cross the road, but not at an intersection or crosswalk. His name has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Parents should be responsible when they are taking care of their children. They have to make sure not to place them in danger and should take extra precautions to guarantee their safety.
St. Augustine Pedestrian Injured in Accident
Between 9:30 and 10:00 PM on November 24th, 2014, an automobile accident occurred in St. Augustine between a man on foot and two cars. The incident, which took place where U.S. Highway 1 and Shores Boulevard intersect, occurred when the pedestrian, who has been identified as the 19-year-old St. Augustine resident Matthew Chrest, began crossing over Shores Boulevard from the eastern side, through the intersection, and apparently did not notice the traffic bearing down upon him from the road.
