Roof Collapses on Daytona Beach Apartment Building
On Thanksgiving night, after millions of people throughout Florida had sat down to well-stocked tables of turkey and stuffing, a partially repaired roof on a six-story apartment building in Daytona Beach disrupted the otherwise peaceful ending to the holiday for over 100 individuals. According to the official report, it was near midnight when Dorman, a resident of the Overlook Apartments, exited his unit and was met with the sound of running water. The sound was coming from the stairwell and Dorman went to investigate. When he peeked through the doorway and into the stairwell, he saw what looked like a waterfall going down the entirety of the stairs.
Florida Motorcyclist Killed in High-Speed Collision
A young Winter Haven man was killed in a motorcycle accident early Sunday evening in Orange County just after 6 o’clock when the bike he was riding collided with another vehicle on the road near the Azalea Park area of Orlando.
Bartow Man Killed in Polk County Hit-and-Run
A spokesperson with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a hit-and-run accident that took place early on Sunday morning has claimed the life of one person and another on the run from detectives. Girl Seriously Injured after Being Struck by Car in Orange County
Late on Tuesday afternoon, several children in the unincorporated Orange County town of Wedgefield were playing close to a home at 2811 Abney Avenue. It is not known whether or not the children were under any parental or adult supervision, but it appears that at some point, close to 4:30, one of them, a 5-year-old girl, left the sidewalk and ran out in front of a passing car. The driver of the car was either unable to stop in time or did not see the child and subsequently hit the girl with her car.
Orange County Day Care Destroyed by Morning Fire
A day care in Orange County was severely damaged in a fire that took place early on Wednesday morning, according to a report from fire officials with the Apopka Fire Department. The official report as it currently stands delivers scant information, however it seems that the fire began at some point either very late on Tuesday night or early on Wednesday morning, a factor which meant that at the time of the blaze no one was in the building.
Tractor Trailer Crushes Car in Orlando Crash
Early on Tuesday morning, members of the Orlando Fire Department joined with the Florida Highway Patrol as well paramedics and first responders throughout the area to respond to reports of an overturned tractor trailer on I-4, close to where it crosses State Road 408. This mobilization of emergency personnel was the result of a 9-1-1 call from a witness to the accident which was placed close to 6:00 in the morning. According to the official report, the caller told dispatchers that a tractor trailer had fallen onto its side on I-4. What made the case somewhat extraordinary was that the truck had, according to the caller, tipped over onto a car. The caller told the dispatcher that it seemed as though someone was still inside the vehicle, trapped, but still able to communicate.

Off-Duty Orlando Officer Discharged after Crashing into Toll Plaza
On Saturday, just after 6:15 in the morning, officers with the Orlando Police Department responded to reports of a crash and subsequent car fire at the toll plaza on State Road 408, close to Andes Avenue. When officers arrived, they were surprised to find one of their fellow officers already there, in civilian clothing. After a brief investigation, it transpired that the off-duty officer already on the scene was, in fact, the one responsible for the crash.
Pedestrian Killed, Motorcyclist Injured after Crash in Seminole County
This past Friday night, a pedestrian was walking along Orange Blossom Trail in Seminole County, nearing the intersection with Orange Blossom Trail and Overland Road, when he decided to cross the street. At the same time that the pedestrian, who has recently been identified by troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol as a 64-year-old Orlando resident McKeeby, began trying to cross from the western headed side of Orange Blossom Trail to the eastbound side of the road a motorcyclist neared the area.
