Three Killed After Small Plane Crashes Into Lake Harney

A little over a week ago, an airplane flying through the Lake Harney area was preparing to land at the Orlando Sanford International Airport when something occurred to cause the small craft to crash. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the plane, a Connection900 BE-9L, was nearing the county line separating Seminole and Volusia counties when the incident took place that sent the plane out of control and Lake Harney itself.

Helicopter Crashes into Home in Hillsborough County

Evening in Hillsborough County diverted from its normally quiet path this past Monday after an unusual event ended in a 9-1-1 call and emergency response crews rushing to a home located in the Tampa area. According to a statement from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, they received a call sometime after 5:00 in the evening from a man identifying himself as Bradley Bates, a 51-year-old who comes from an undisclosed residence. The statement goes on to describe in some detail just what occurred on Monday to result in Bates calling 9-1-1, however there are numerous details that are not supplied in the case.

Orlando Hot Air Balloon Crash Leaves One Injured

A hot air balloon carrying 17 people crashed near Walt Disney World in Orlando on Monday. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the balloon crashed into a retention pond near State Road 429 at Western Way. One person was injured, although the Orange County Fire Rescue says the injuries did not seem to be serious.

Plane Crashes into Bartow Church Parking Lot

In Bartow this past Sunday, the 300-plus congregation of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church were in the middle of their normal worship ceremony when a loud crashing noise coming from their parking lot. While the service continued, one of the church members left the sanctuary in order to determine what exactly caused the disturbance. Their search ended quickly and strongly when they saw a small plane crashed into the church’s parking lot.

Pilot Dies in Tuesday Plane Crash in Marion County

On Tuesday morning a small plane flying through Marion County crashed in a field close to 150th Avenue Road in Williston. The crash, which took place on the property of 21850 NW 150th Avenue Road, was initially unreachable by emergency response teams due to trees downed along the road, blocking the route of the first responders. When, 25 minutes after the plane crashed, officers from Marion County Fire Rescue and the Florida Highway patrol were able to reach the plane they found a completely destroyed plane and a dead pilot.

Sky Train Derailment Injures Maintenance Worker in Miami

One of the Sky Train’s at Miami’s International Airport derailed early Tuesday morning, December 22nd, sending one car onto the roof of Concourse D and another off the end of the track. A maintenance worker who was aboard the train during the 2 a.m. maintenance run was taken to the hospital with minor injuries and was subsequently released. By late Tuesday afternoon, the cars had been removed from the roof of the concourse, but no timeline was in place to reopen Sky Train service. Thousands of airport travelers were forced to negotiate the concourse on foot, a task that can take upwards of twenty minutes during peak times.

Two Dead After Small Plane Crashes Near Orlando

Two people, a man in his 50s and a female teen, who may be father and daughter though they have not yet been identified, died on the morning of November 20th when a small airplane they were traveling in crashed into a southwest Orlando lake. The plane took off from Orlando Executive Airport shortly after 11:15 a.m., only five miles away from the crash site in Clear Lake, a roughly 300-acre lake off Rio Grande Avenue. The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene and were the only two people on board, according to Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings. It’s estimated that were in the air for only 15 minutes or less.

Employees of Boca Raton Real Estate Firm Killed in Plane Crash

One Dead and Two Injured in Volusia County Plane Crash

A plane crash in Volusia County on October 10th, left one man dead and two others injured. The small Cessna plane, which had three people on board, crashed shortly before 2 p.m. near Bunnell Road in Seville, an unincorporated community in the northern portion of the county, according to Andrew Gant, spokesman for the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.

Plane Catches Fire on the Runway at Fort Lauderdale Airport

A near-miss at the Fort Lauderdale airport on Thursday sent one person to the hospital and scared dozens of other passengers when their plane caught fire on the runway. A Boeing 767 flight headed to Venezuela was preparing to depart when the crew was alerted by the air traffic control tower that their plane had caught fire. The pilot and crew immediately stopped the plane and evacuated all of the passengers on board – a total of 110 people. One serious injury occurred when a man running from the plane towards the terminal fell and hit his head on the tarmac.
