It has been confirmed that seven employees from Boca Raton real estate firm Pebb Enterprises perished in a fiery plane crash on Tuesday, just outside of Akron, Ohio. The team had been traveling to visit several property sites throughout the Midwest, prior to arriving in Akron just before 3 p.m.
According to reports, visibility was low as the plan approached Akron Fulton International Airport. The airport does not have a control tower, so pilots rely on radio communication with each other on a special frequency to coordinate landings and takeoffs. Pilots landing must be able to see the airstrip prior to approach in order to judge the speed and altitude as they descend.
The Federal Aviation Administration is currently conducting a thorough investigation of Tuesday’s accident, including how well the plane was maintained and the flight history of the crew. Representatives from Execuflight, the Florida-based company that maintains the fleet of small executive aircraft that Pebb Enterprises was using, the pilot and co-pilot had logged many hours together and enjoyed working as a team. It is believed that weather played at least a partial role in Tuesday’s crash.
