Deadly Florida DUI Accident Kills 61-Year-Old Driver of Rare Ferrari
According to public arrest records from the Miami-Dade Police Department, a 33-year-old South Florida woman turned herself in after the holiday weekend to face charges for her alleged involvement in a drunk driving collision that claimed the life of a 61-year-old man in mid-October.
Official statements retrieved from the suspect, as well as multiple motorists who watched the horrific accident, indicate that it was shortly before 11 p.m. on Friday, October 15, 2021, when 33-year-old Hallandale Beach resident Irina Borisova Shadrina was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and driving her 2019 Maserati Levante along the Sunny Isles Beach bridge. At this same time, 61-year-old Lionel Marquez was forced to park his 2021 black Ferrari SF90 on the side of the same roadway near Collins Avenue due to an unforeseen issue with the vehicle. As the Aventura resident stepped out of his rare hybrid sports car to check under the hood for the problem, the Maserati seemingly appeared out of nowhere and crashed into the driver’s side of the Ferrari. The force of impact from the collision was so powerful that it caused the 61-year-old man to be thrown over the bridge and into the Intercoastal Waterway below.
After exhausting nearly every search technique for approximately 12 hours, local dive and rescue teams finally discovered and recovered the deceased man’s body the next morning. His exact cause of death has yet to be released.
Traffic homicide detectives with the Miami-Dade Police Department stated that Shadrina continued to drive her Maserati on its dangerous joyride until a tire fell off of her vehicle nearly 450 feet away from the initial auto accident with the Ferrari. She remained at the scene where officers administered routine field sobriety tests which determined that her blood-alcohol content level was recorded as almost three times the legal limit. As of Monday evening, she was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide. She is currently out on bond.
