5 Dead in 3-Car Accident in Bunnell
A Sunday Flagler County accident in Bunnell killed five people, all of whom have now been identified and their families contacted. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident which took the five lives occurred just before noon on Sunday when Edwin Santana, a 58-year-old Miramar resident, began to turn left onto U.S. 1 from Old Dixie Highway. For unknown reasons, Santana, driving a 2008 Mazda Tribute, either did not see or was not concerned with a Ford F-250 that was driving north on U.S. 1. The Mazda and the Ford collided, the impact sending both cars spinning out of control and directly into a third vehicle, a 2016 Toyota Camry, which was in the southbound lane of U.S. 1, attempting to make a turn.
