SUV Heading Wrong Way Caused Fatal Motorcycle Accident
Florida Highway Patrol troopers say that a sports utility vehicle driving the wrong way caused a series of accidents that killed a motorcyclist. Troopers report that the accidents involved four vehicles in addition to the motorcycle and shut down 13th Street in St. Cloud, a major roadway in the city, for eight hours. They report that a 73-year-old St. Cloud woman was driving the SUV on Oct. 15 on U.S. Highway 192 — known as 13th Street in St. Cloud — when she fainted or became otherwise unable to control her vehicle. Her Chevrolet Equinox collided head-on with a westbound Harley-Davidson operated by a 54-year-old Barefoot Bay man around 3:30 that afternoon. The rider was rushed to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries at 5:50 p.m.
Orlando Motorcycle Accident Claims Life of Sheriff’s Deputy
A spokesperson for the Florida Highway Patrol has announced that a Seminole County Sheriff’s Deputy was killed recently in a motorcycle accident north of Orlando on December 26. FHP accident investigators say the 53-year-old deputy was on his motorcycle pursuing a speeding driver on Maitland Boulevard at Gateway Drive when a Volkswagen Jetta turned directly in front of him, causing the deputy’s motorcycle to collide with the Volkswagen. Orlando personal injury attorney James O. Cunningham was saddened to hear about this accident, citing another tragic instance where a vehicle turned directly into the path of a rider, giving little or no time to react.
Woman Killed in Lake County Florida Hit-and-Run Motorcycle Accident
As reported in the Miami Herald, a 50-year-old London woman died from injuries she suffered in a central Florida hit-and-run motorcycle accident on U.S. Highway 192 in Lake County in August. She was a passenger on a motorcycle and she and the driver were both thrown from the motorcycle when struck by the car.
Car Making U-Turn Causes Serious Florida Motorcycle Accident
A motorcycle rider suffered serious injuries recently when a car making a u-turn crossed into his lane causing the 45-year-old rider to slam into the hood of a 2000 Mazda. The Orlando Sentinel claims that the man injured in the Florida motorcycle accident was driving his motorcycle south on Southwest 142nd Avenue when the Mazda making a u-turn struck him at the intersection of Thoroughbred Court.
