13-Year-Old Dies, Numerous Others Injured in DUI Hit-and-Run in Polk County
A 13-year-old boy has died and five other people injured in an accident that occurred in Polk County last Thursday afternoon. This horrific event was first responded to by a Polk County Sheriff’s Deputy, who was talking on the phone to his 11-year-old daughter at the time of the accident. The deputy, Jonathan “JJ” Quintana, is recorded as having told reporters that he was asleep when his daughter, who was on her way home from school, called him to see if he could pick her up from a nearby bus stop. Before he could even get off the phone, the daughter began to scream and call for help.
Two-Car Accident Killed Man, Critically Injured Three Children
According to accident investigators, a recent two-car accident in Poinciana killed a 19-year-old man and critically injured three children after a car crossed the center line and collided head-on with another vehicle. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said that a 23-year-old St. Cloud woman was driving a 2002 Dodge Neon east on Cypress Parkway near Laurel Avenue about 10:45 a.m. when she drifted over the center line and collided with an oncoming 2008 Suzuki SX4. The collision caused both drivers to lose control of their vehicles, which came to a rest on the north shoulder of the Parkway.
