Traffic-Related Fatalities Rose Sharply in 2016, New Study Shows
Recent findings published in the 2018 Global Status Report on Road Safety indicated that the number of deaths that happen throughout the world as a result of auto accidents has reached an all-time high. In 2016, says the report, 1.35 million people died in traffic-related incidents. This stunning number moves traffic-related fatalities upwards on the list of the most common ways people die; now the 8th leading cause of death for people of every age around the world, traffic-related deaths have surpassed both HIV/AIDS as well as tuberculosis.
