Kroger Recalls Water for Infants Due to Mold
The discovery of mold within a significant number of water containers distributed by the Kroger Company has resulted in a large recall. The discovery of mold occurred after several customers complained to Kroger regarding the water, alerting to the company as to the presence of a potential problem. While the exact claims of these complaints are not known (whether or not they identified specific health issues that emerged after the consumption of contaminated water or if they were more benign), the Kroger company did issue a statement saying that they took the complaints seriously, tested the water, and discovered a strain of mold known as Talaromyces penicillium within the water.
Takata Airbag Recall Expands by 3.3 Million Units
Earlier in the year, the Takata company revisited their product recall and decided that they needed to expand the scope of the notice to include 3.3 million more inflators. The Takata airbag controversy broke open a little more than a year ago after numerous individuals were reported to have died over the course of a few years after the airbags in their front and sides of their cars malfunctioned.
Casselberry Fire Displaces Family of Six
Firefighters in Casselberry responded to reports of a house fire on Thursday morning and rushed to the scene of the reported incident. When they arrived at the home located on Willow Bay Terrace, the firefighters with the Seminole County Fire Department said that they discovered an active blaze working its way through the garage of the home. The incident, which was reported around 12:05 in the morning, resulted in the fire crews battling the flames before they could spread through the garage and begin affecting the other homes nearby.

On Sunday, January 8, 2018, former Japanese auto giant Takata Corp. issued a recall expansion involving an additional 3.3 million vehicles due to their faulty airbag inflators. This is the largest recall to affect the automobile industry in United States history.

Australian Man’s Death Linked to Faulty Takata Airbags
A 58-year-old man from Sydney, Australia passed away over the weekend after the Honda CRV he was driving collided with another vehicle at an intersection. The impact from the accident caused the airbags to deploy, fatally wounding the driver when he was struck in the neck with metal shrapnel from the faulty airbags. An officer at the scene said: “Investigations have revealed the death of the man is likely due to a fault in the airbag, causing the man to be struck in the neck by a small fragment.”
