Casselberry Fire Displaces Family of Six
Firefighters in Casselberry responded to reports of a house fire on Thursday morning and rushed to the scene of the reported incident. When they arrived at the home located on Willow Bay Terrace, the firefighters with the Seminole County Fire Department said that they discovered an active blaze working its way through the garage of the home. The incident, which was reported around 12:05 in the morning, resulted in the fire crews battling the flames before they could spread through the garage and begin affecting the other homes nearby.
In addition to fighting the fire itself, the fire crews were able to confirm the presence in the house of six people: four adults as well as two children. It was not clear from the initial report whether or not one of these individuals was the person who first noticed the flames and called the firefighters or if they were all sleeping at the time that the blaze began. The Seminole County Fire Department did confirm that all of the people who were inside of the home were able to be rescued without much difficulty. In addition to the six people, firefighters were able to retrieve the family’s cat.
The flames from the garage did indeed jump to the home and the report stated that after the fire was suppressed photographs were taken that showed the extent of the damage to the interior and exterior of the garage as well as the interior and exterior of the house. The extent of the damage is believed to be fairly great, although it was not clear from the report whether or not a repair of the home will be possible or if the fire rendered the current structure useless.
An initial investigation into the incident did not result in any conclusive report regarding the reason behind the fire, however pictures taken at the scene showed a high degree of damage to the A/C unit that rested inside of the house itself. While not necessarily the reason behind the fire in Casselberry last Thursday, it is well known that the second most common cause of house fires in America results from improper maintenance of devices used to power heat and air conditioning.
