Seven-Person Family Displaced after House Fire in Orange County

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on March 12, 2019

Police and other authorities in Orange County are looking into reports that an exploding van is behind a recent fire that took place in Pine Hills on Friday, March 8th, and that resulted in the destruction of a family’s home. Reports from the Orange County Fire Rescue indicated that the incident was reported along the 5000 block of Bonnie Brae Circle sometime on Friday, and that emergency response crews rushed to the scene as soon as the calls began to reach the call center regarding the incident. When they arrived, the firefighters discovered a home as well as two vehicles that were both engulfed in flames. It is believed that seven people total lived in the home at the time of the fire but that at least one of them, a 9-year-old boy, was at school when the incident took place.

Regarding the cause of the fire, not much is currently known. The reports stated the owner of the van told the authorities that his dogs began to bark and that a few moments later his van exploded. At the time of this writing, it is not clear if the investigators believe that the van fire was set intentionally or if it was the result of some sort of electrical malfunction. It is also not confirmed that the initial fire began with the van, and it is possible that the investigation will reveal that the fire started elsewhere before spreading to the van and then the home.

What is clear is that after the fire was reported, it spread to the house itself. Inside the home at the time were four adults and two toddlers. Two dogs were also inside of the building when it caught fire. While the early reports from the Orange County Fire Rescue suggested that there was perhaps someone still trapped within the building when the fire began, they quickly confirmed that there was indeed no one still within the building by the time the fire reached its full force. Several cats, however, still remain missing, although it is entirely possible that they escaped from the home and are simply hiding elsewhere for the time being.
