Fatal Collision Between SUV and Pedestrian in Orlando

On Sunday, a little over a week ago, a collision occurred in Orlando that left one individual dead. The details released from the Orlando Police Department do not give a full picture of the events leading up to the collision between an SUV and a pedestrian, and they also give very little in the way of explanation of what happened during and after the collision. What facts were released give us the general idea of the crash, and it is therefore worthwhile to relate them here.

Orlando Pedestrian Hit while Crossing Street

A 73-year-old woman from the Orlando area was killed this week after being hit by a car while crossing the street. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the woman was crossing Pershing Avenue, near Redditt Road, around 6:30 PM. She was not crossing in a crosswalk and walked in front of an oncoming car driven by a 31-year-old female from Orlando. The pedestrian was taken to the Orlando Regional Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the car was not injured. The FHP is continuing to investigate the accident.

Garbage Trucks Backs Over and Kills Lake Nona Man

It was just a few days before Christmas and shortly before 7:00 in the morning when the 73-year-old Lear took his dog for a walk near his Lake Nona Home in Orange County. Lear and his dog followed their normal route, a path which took them to the intersection of Prestbury Drive and Kelsall Drive, just east of Narcoossee Road and close to the location of Lake Nona Middle School.

Girl Seriously Injured after Being Struck by Car in Orange County

Late on Tuesday afternoon, several children in the unincorporated Orange County town of Wedgefield were playing close to a home at 2811 Abney Avenue. It is not known whether or not the children were under any parental or adult supervision, but it appears that at some point, close to 4:30, one of them, a 5-year-old girl, left the sidewalk and ran out in front of a passing car. The driver of the car was either unable to stop in time or did not see the child and subsequently hit the girl with her car.

Pedestrian Killed, Motorcyclist Injured after Crash in Seminole County

This past Friday night, a pedestrian was walking along Orange Blossom Trail in Seminole County, nearing the intersection with Orange Blossom Trail and Overland Road, when he decided to cross the street. At the same time that the pedestrian, who has recently been identified by troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol as a 64-year-old Orlando resident McKeeby, began trying to cross from the western headed side of Orange Blossom Trail to the eastbound side of the road a motorcyclist neared the area.

Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Orlando’s Curry Ford Road

Last Wednesday, troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol reported on an accident that took place between a car and a pedestrian along an Orange County road. The statement outlines the events that ultimately led to the death of an 82-year-old man in an incident that is still under investigation. At close to 5:40 in the evening, Mohini, the 82-year-old Orlando resident, was on foot by Curry Ford Road, close to the intersection with Arbor View Road, when he attempted to cross the street. It seems that Mohini was able to make it across eastbound lanes without incident and had been standing in the median before deciding to cross the westbound lanes.

Pedestrian Struck and Killed along Colonial Drive

On Saturday, shortly after 10:00 in the evening, a 46-year-old Orlando resident named Maria Guzman was on foot by Colonial Drive. Witnesses to the scene say that Guzman’s path was taking her along the south side of Colonial Drive when she decided to cross the street. Guzman approached a crosswalk at an intersection and began to cross the street.

Orlando Pedestrian Killed While Crossing University Boulevard

Just before 10:00 at night this past Friday, Alexandria Clark, a 19-year-old woman from Orlando, was on foot by University Boulevard and Alafaya Trail when she decided to attempt to cross University Boulevard. According to the Florida Highway Patrol’s spokesperson, Sg. Kim Montes, Clark decided to turn off of the sidewalk and cross the road at a point where no crosswalk is located, a plan that should always be met with skepticism and, ultimately, rejection.

Pedestrian Killed in Fatal Kissimmee Accident

A person died in a recent Orlando area car versus pedestrian accident. According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a 57 year old male from Kissimmee, Florida was driving west on US Highway 192 at around 10:00 pm when a 51 year old male, also from Kissimmee, tried crossing the highway at the intersection of Old Vineland Road. The pedestrian walked directly into the path of the oncoming 2005 Nissan and was hit. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
