Suspect Identified in Florida Hit-and-Run Crash
Leesburg police are looking for the suspect in a June hit-and-run collision that left a 17-year-old girl seriously injured. An arrest warrant has been issued for a 25-year-old Kasson Kwame Ford. According to authorities, Ford was driving a Lincoln Continental near the intersection of Montclair Road and Thomas Avenue when he failed to stop for a stop sign and hit a red pickup truck driven by the 17-year-old victim. The victim was thrown from the vehicle, but survived the crash. Ford is charged with leaving the scene of a serious accident.
Sanford Man Victim of Single Car Accident
A Sanford man was pronounced dead upon arrival at Central Florida Regional Hospital after losing control of his vehicle on Celery Avenue and hitting two trees. It is unclear at this point if the death was related to injuries sustained in the accident or a health-related issue.
Kissimmee Crash Injures 4, Kills Kissimmee Man
An early morning accident near the intersection of Indian Point Boulevard and Poinciana Boulevard has claimed the life of one Kissimmee man and sent four others to the hospital. According to authorities, a northbound car driven by the Kissimmee man crossed the center line into the path of two oncoming vehicles. One vehicle managed to avoid the collision, but the other driver was not so lucky. The head-on collision that followed resulted in the death of the driver of the northbound driver and severe injuries to those in the southbound SUV.
Four Killed and at least a Dozen Wounded in Florida Boating Accident
A Florida boating accident near Miami has claimed the lives of four people and injured at least twelve others. The crash occurred near the Dinner Key Marina in Coconut Grove during the Fourth of July holiday weekend, traditionally an especially busy time for Florida waterways and boating accidents. Emergency response personnel were alerted to the accident around 10:45 p.m. by one of the boaters involved in the accident. He told Coast Guard officials that his 36-foot pleasure boat had been struck by another watercraft and was taking on water. He said that the operator of the boat did not stop to render assistance following the collision.
Boy Nearly Drowns in Orlando Area Theme Park Hotel Pool
Orange County Fire Rescue officials report that a 3-year-old boy nearly drowned recently in an incident at an Orlando area theme park resort. Officials said the incident occurred at the Liki Tiki Village near Winter Garden around 1:30 p.m. Orlando premises liability attorneys are following developments in the case, as it occurred at the same resort where an infant girl was found dead in one of the rooms the previous month.
Police Impound Vehicle and Interview Suspects in Connection with Florida Hit-and-Run Accident
Lakeland police officers say that they are confident that a 2006 Jeep Wrangler they recently impounded is the vehicle involved in a recent hit-and-run accident that killed a 44-year-old Eustis man. They also report that they have interviewed two people they believe were involved in the accident. Police say that the accident occurred around 2 a.m. in the 2600 block of South Florida Avenue in Lakeland when the suspect blew through a construction zone where the victim and the rest of the crew were working on a pedestrian-safety project. Witnesses say that after striking the victim, the driver of the Jeep fled the scene of the accident without stopping to render assistance.
Man Killed, Daughter Critically Injured When Airplane Lands on Florida Beach
Orlando aviation accident lawyers are closely following developments in a case involving a crash landing that killed and man and critically injured his daughter, (sadly, she has since passed away), as they walked on the beach. Wendy Rose, a spokeswoman for the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, reported that the pilot of the aircraft and his passenger were not injured when their plane lost power and was forced to land near Venice Beach. Investigators say that the man and his daughter were walking on the beach just a few feet from the surf when the aircraft struck them as it attempted to land.
DeBary Man Faces Charges in Connection with Fatal DUI Pedestrian Accident
Florida Highway Patrol troopers report that a 43-year-old DeBary man is facing multiple charges in connection with a recent fatal DUI pedestrian accident. Troopers say that the driver was drunk when his vehicle struck and killed a 20-year-old man on State Road 46. They report that the suspect was traveling east on S.R. 46 near Wekiva River Road when he struck the victim, who was standing in the eastbound lane. Investigators have not yet determined why the victim was standing in the road at the time of the accident but report that the impact threw the victim into the median.
Fatal Florida Car Accident on I-4
Two teens accused of carjacking a man in Oakland later crashed the same vehicle as they tried to exit the Florida Turnpike onto I-4. The two teens pointed a gun in the victim’s face and demanded he hand over the keys to his 1998 BMW. They then proceeded away from the scene at a high rate of speed which later resulted in the accident. Both young men were ejected from the vehicle. One was fatally injured and the other is in critical condition.
Florida Trooper Chases Down Hit-and-Run Driver
A Florida Highway patrolman chased down a hit-and-run driver in his own damaged vehicle following the incident Wednesday afternoon. The suspect ran a red light at the intersection of West Colonial Drive and Hiawassee Road, striking the police cruiser. The driver then attempted to flee the scene by driving on to a nearby apartment complex. The patrolman pursued the suspect and apprehended him as the suspect fled on foot.
