Orange County Crash Leaves Pedestrian Dead
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), a pedestrian was killed after being hit by two vehicles in Orange County. The incident happened on Tuesday evening at North Pine Hills Road and White Heron Drive. A Volkswagen heading north on North Pine Hills Road and driven by a 25 year old female hit the pedestrian, who has only been identified as being a male. This impact threw the victim into the southbound lanes, where he was run over by a Chrysler driven by a 34 year old male. No further information was released as an investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
Driver T-Bones Orlando Police Car
An Orlando Police car with two officers in it was hit on Sunday when another car ran a red light on John Young Parkway. According to the police report, the police car was traveling west on Silver Spring Road with its lights and sirens on when the other driver ran a red light, causing a t-bone car accident. The incident happened around 8:00 pm on New Year’s Eve.
Apartment Fire in Orange County Displaces 20 People
On December 22nd, crews with the Orange County Fire Rescue were dispatched to Redman Street after receiving numerous reports of a fire. When the crews arrived, they found an apartment building at the designated location from which thick plumes of black smoke were rushing from the windows and into the sky. Members of the Orange County Fire Rescue were able to begin battling the flames as well as enter the building and ensure that all inhabitants were safely removed from the premises.
Crane Collapses Along I-4 in Orlando
A little over a week ago, a crane operator was operating a large crane close to State Road 408, where Anderson Street and Division Avenue intersect, when something happened to cause the crane to collapse. According to the SGL, the company that owned the crane and employed the crane operator, the 300-ton piece of equipment was part of the high-profile I-4 Ultimate Project which is aimed at improving the traffic artery along Interstate 4 that has been such a nuisance for drivers in the past.
Garbage Trucks Backs Over and Kills Lake Nona Man
It was just a few days before Christmas and shortly before 7:00 in the morning when the 73-year-old Lear took his dog for a walk near his Lake Nona Home in Orange County. Lear and his dog followed their normal route, a path which took them to the intersection of Prestbury Drive and Kelsall Drive, just east of Narcoossee Road and close to the location of Lake Nona Middle School.
Car Crashes Into Orlando Home, Pins Her Against Table
A week ago, on Tuesday, a 67-year-old woman was in her home at 7381 High Lake Drive. It was close to 9:00 in the morning, a usually quiet time for this particular stretch of High Lake Drive which is located in between North Hiawassee Road and North Apopka Vineland Road and close to Lake Gem Elementary School. The woman, who has not been named, was in her kitchen, sitting at a table, when a car suddenly drove through the kitchen wall.
Car Crashes into Cocoa Home, Three Children Injured
It was almost two weeks ago, on a Saturday, that McCarthy and her husband were fast asleep in their Cocoa home when they suddenly awakened to a loud crashing sound. Leaping from their bed, McCarthy’s husband rushed out of the bedroom and towards the source of the sound. He made his way to the home’s second bedroom, where his three sons, aged 5, 7, and 15, were sleeping. When he opened the door, he saw the room completely upended, drywall dust floating in the air, and the breeze from outside sweeping across his face. Most noticeable, however, was the car which was sitting in the center of the room on top of the demolished exterior wall.

A disturbing report was recently released by the Center for Injury Research and Policy, located at Columbus, Ohio, in the Nationwide Children’s Hospital. This report, the result of an analyzation of several different national databases which store information from all hospitals around the country, discovered that every month a child in the United States dies as a result of an incident involving window blinds. Furthermore, two children are injured every single day under the same circumstances.
Orange County Deputy Injured in Stolen Car Hit-and-Run
On Wednesday of last week, a deputy with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office was on patrol when they were called in to assist in the pursuit of a stolen vehicle just after 11:30 in the morning. According to the report, the unnamed deputy was following the vehicle along South Goldenrod Road when the two cars neared Pershing Avenue. Somehow, and this is something that one hopes will be fleshed out in future reports from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of the stolen vehicle managed to either get themselves behind the trailing cruiser or simply turned around so that the two vehicles were face to face.
SUV and Tractor-Trailer Collide in Orlando
A week ago on Monday morning, shortly before sunrise, officers with the Orlando Police Department responded to an emergency call directing them to Oak Ridge Road. The call indicated that a collision had taken place at a location along Oak Ridge Road somewhere between the points where this street intersects with John Young Parkway and Millenia Boulevard. When the police, fire rescue, and other emergency first responders arrived they found themselves dealing with two burning vehicles as well as one individual who was trapped and injured inside a badly mangled vehicle.
