Orange County Man Arrested in Road Rage Incident
Osceola County deputies recently arrested an Orange County man in connection with a road rage incident. Deputies say that the 37-year-old suspect was southbound on Poinciana Boulevard near Trafalgar Boulevard about 8:40 p.m. when he drove behind another vehicle and began flashing his headlights. They say that the suspect then pulled alongside the other car, rolled down his window and began swearing at the other driver and asking why he was driving so slowly. The exchange led to the two drivers getting into an argument, which resulted in the suspect getting out of his car and pounding on the other driver’s door while screaming and threatening to kill him, according to the arrest report.
The other driver, who was transporting his 9- and 12-year-old sons, eventually got out of his vehicle to confront the suspect, who then jumped into his SUV and attempted to hit the man. The man jumped out of the SUV’s path, but the suspect made another attempt to hit him. After missing for a second time, the suspect drove off, and the driver of the other car called 911 to report the incident. Deputies found the suspect at a nearby home shortly after the incident and charged him with aggravated assault.
Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident, but a casual glance at local media outlets will tell you that this is not always the case. Drivers who become uncontrollably angry during road rage incidents usually cause accidents that injure and kill people who are simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Road rage is reckless, negligent and incredibly dangerous, and, with the help of an experienced Orlando personal injury lawyer, victims injured in road rage incidents can receive compensation from the at-fault driver.
