Florida Man Crashes Car into Strip Mall

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on December 29, 2015

A Florida man crashed his Dodge Challenger into a strip mall in Pensacola on the morning of December 20th. Pensacola police report that the man, whose name has not yet been released, told police that he wanted to "time travel" much like in the popular movie "Back to the Future." The Challenger crashed through the front door of Advance Tax Services, traveled through the building and came to rest just short of the building’s rear entrance. No one was in the building at the time of the incident as it occurred on a weekend.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to a medical facility for a health evaluation. Police are continuing their investigation, while three businesses have been forced to relocate to other facilities due to the lack of structural integrity left in the former strip mall. It is an extra expense many of these business owners had not planned for this year.

This incident is a strange reminder for everyone that is out this holiday season to stay vigilant in your surroundings, even if the risk of an incident occurring seems very low. Because many people are out enjoying the holidays and visiting family and friends, more and more vehicles will be on the road. No one in the immediate vicinity of this accident could have known what the driver was planning. Luckily, the incident occurred when most businesses were closed, but the scenario could have been very different if it had happened during peak driving times. We encourage everyone to stay alert and take the safe course this holiday season, whether that means avoiding heavy traffic times if possible or staying home to avoid adverse weather conditions.
