Suspect Arrested for Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash in Pasco County
After nearly a week of eluding local Pasco County authorities, officials were finally able to locate and apprehend a 30-year-old driver for his alleged connection to a fatal hit-and-run collision in a Gulf Coast Acres neighborhood at the end of May.
On May 26, 2023, at approximately 1:37 a.m., officers with the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the intersection of Bermondsey Street and Bolton Avenue in response to a severe hit-and-run accident involving a pedestrian. According to initial case reports, a 31-year-old woman from Hudson was walking in the eastern direction across Bolton Avenue when 30-year-old Mason Ryan Stevenson approached from the western vicinity of Bermondsey Street in a white 2000 Dodge Dakota. The pickup truck struck the pedestrian and immediately fled the scene.
Although Pasco County emergency response teams made several attempts to save the pedestrian’s life, she was unable to survive the severity of her injuries and died at the crash site.
The damaged white Dodge Dakota was abandoned by the 30-year-old driver and was found by officers an undisclosed amount of time later, but Stevenson was nowhere to be seen. Finally, after an anonymous tip was submitted to the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at 15604 Juliets Court in Hudson where the hit-and-run suspect was taken into custody.
Mason Ryan Stevenson has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death and driving with a suspended license. He currently resides at the Pasco County Jail. No further updates have been released to the public.
