Tainted Food Could Result in Product Liability Lawsuits
The U.S. Department of Agriculture and food processing giant Perdue have announced a recall of more than 90,000 pounds of chicken nuggets due to the possibility of contamination. The food recall affects Great Value brand frozen chicken nuggets sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores as the USDA and Perdue believe there is a possibility that the food contains “foreign materials.” Perdue reportedly found small pieces of blue plastic in samples of the nuggets after receiving complaints from consumers.
The recall is for 1-pound, 13-ounce bags of GREAT VALUE Fully Cooked Chicken Nuggets. The bags contain a label with the establishment number P-33944 and a product code of 89008 A0160. The BEST IF USED BY date is June 9, 2011. No one has reported any injuries in connection with the tainted food, but officials advise that anyone concerned about potential injuries from ingesting this product should contact a physician.
