Orlando Personal Injury Lawyer Following Hoover Vacuum Recall
Vacuum cleaner manufacturer Hoover has recalled more than 140,000 of its Hoover Wind Tunnel Canister Vacuums after dozens of reports of the vacuum overheating and starting fires. Hoover announced the recall at the request of the Consumer Product Safety Commission after receiving more than 70 reports from customers that the vacuum overheated while plugged into an outlet even after they turned it off. In one case, the vacuum caught fire and burned a section of carpet in the owner’s home.
After an investigation, Hoover traced the overheating problem to a length of wire between the power nozzle and the wand connector. Hoover said this length of wire can short circuit, posing a significant fire hazard. The recall affects Hoover Wind Tunnel Canister Vacuums sold in most major department stores between March 2003 and December 2008 with a price tag around $250. Hoover warns owners to unplug these vacuums immediately if currently plugged into an outlet, not to use them and to call Hoover at 1-888-564-2066 to schedule a free repair.
