Fire Hazard Causes GM Recall
The month of June has already brought news of a massive recall from embattled automaker General Motors. The culprit? Heated washer fluid systems. This auxiliary feature has proven to be a liability for GM since reports indicate the feature includes a hazard of a short circuit that could cause a fire.
Although only a few drivers have reported incidents, GM is recalling over 1.5 million vehicles from Buicks and Cadillacs to Hummers and other big rides. GM will offer each driver $100 in compensation. The company says the $100 payment is to pay customers back for not having their heated washer fluid systems available. In the recall, the company will simply disable the feature.
