Large Family Displaced After Fire Destroys Ocoee Home

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on June 16, 2020

The destructive force of fire touched a family living within the city of Ocoee during the middle days of June. Reports from the firefighting officials indicated that the first reports of the fire began reaching the station very early on Monday morning, while most people in the area were deep into their nightly rest.

The house where the fire took place is home to a large family. It is believed that seven people were living there at the time, most of whom were asleep at the time when the fire broke out. It was close to 2:00 in the morning when one of the children smelled smoke and heard the snap of wood beginning to catch fire. The child immediately ran to the bedroom of their parent’s and woke the two adults.

It did not take long for the adults to determine that a fire had indeed broken out within the home. With this in their minds, they quickly swept through the house to wake the rest of the family and ensure that everyone had escaped. One of the adults smashed a window in order to check on one of the children. The child had indeed fled from the home already.

After the family was safely out of the building, the fire officials reached the scene. It is not known how long the firefighters fought the fire itself, but it seems clear that after the blaze was finally extinguished the home was a complete loss. The family, who had lived in the house around 4 years, has lost everything they owned in the fire. It is not clear if any pets were inside of the building at the time. The cumulative value of the belongings lost in the fire was not included in the initial reports.

While the family is currently displaced, they are seeking assistance from the Red Cross.

The precise causes of the fire remain unknown. Officials are currently investigating the event. One of the key questions they will be asking is just where the fire broke out. Depending on the room where the first flames began, possible sources for the initial spark will emerge.
