Chewy Employee Suffers Traumatic Injury in Distribution Center Fork Lift Accident

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on December 27, 2018

An employee of the Chewy company has been severely injured in an incident that took place at a distribution center located in the city of Ocala. According to the Ocala Fire Rescue crews who responded to the event, the first reports of a premises liability accident emerged shortly after 12:30 the afternoon, and brought numerous first responder units to the 3300 block of Northwest 35th Avenue. Among the assembled emergency crews were representatives from the Ocala Police Department, the Marion County Fire Rescue, and the above-mentioned Ocala Fire Rescue. The location at which the emergency crews converged was a distribution center for the popular online pet retailer, Chewy.

Chewy is a brand applied to both pet food and pet toys as well as other pet-related objects. A subsidiary of PetSmart, Chewy is headquartered in Dania Beach, but they have warehouses and distribution centers located throughout Texas, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Nevada, and Florida.

It is not clear exactly what happened on the afternoon of Sunday, December 16th, but we do know that six emergency response teams arrived at the location to begin treating the individual. The individual was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital as a trauma alert patient.

Trauma alerts indicate that the injuries sustained are extremely serious and, while not necessarily life-threatening, can be life-altering.

In this particular instance, the injured person was transported from the scene of the accident to Ocala Regional Medical Center. They were admitted there and, as no other information on the incident was released, it is assumed that they are still residing within the hospital.

An investigation into the incident will no doubt be in full swing at this point. It is also highly probably that OSHA, the Occupational Health and Safety Administration, will be sending personnel in order to initiate an investigation of their own. Updates to this story will emerge if any notable developments take place.
