Ormond Beach Police Officer Involved in Motorcycle Crash

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on November 14, 2018

Officials within the Ormond Beach Police Department have confirmed that an officer working for them was one of the individuals involved in an auto accident that took place on Tuesday, November 6th. Reports relating to this incident suggest that the collision happened close to 1:00 in the afternoon and that the officer involved was not severely injured in the incident, although they were transported to a hospital after the crash and received an unknown amount of medical treatment.

Regarding the specifics of the accident itself, it appears as though the Ormond Beach Police Department patrol person was riding a motorcycle down South Ridgewood Avenue, close to where this street intersects with Rogers Park Drive, when something happened to cause them to collide with a red Toyota.

Details relating to the reasons behind the crash are slow in coming. What we know so far is that the police officer was riding on the motorcycle when the incident took place. It is believed that the Toyota truck was occupied at the time of the incident and that the truck was also traveling down the road. It is not known if the truck was traveling in the same direction as the officer on the motorcycle or if it was headed in the opposite direction. It is also not known if the officer was on duty at the time, if they were responding to a call, or if they were in any way driving their vehicle in an unusual manner.

The driver of the Toyota was not injured in the incident, and it is believed that they remained at the scene of the crash in order to help the responding officers with their initial investigation into the event.

While the officer on the motorcycle was transported to an area hospital, no information currently exists on the condition they were in when they were admitted to the medical facility. The report also failed to provide the public with the name of the officer in question.

An investigation into the crash is currently underway, and the Florida Highway Patrol is responsible for trying to discover just what happened to cause the incident in the first place.
