Orlando Motorcyclist Killed in Early Morning Hit-and-Run Collision with SUV
According to preliminary investigations from troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol operating within Orange County, a 27-year-old Orlando motorcyclist was killed on Friday, October 16th, 2020, after being involved in a hit-and-run collision with two other vehicles close to the intersection of Lake Pickett Road and Percival Road.
It was approximately 4:20 a.m. this past Friday morning when 9-1-1 dispatchers in Orange County first started to receive emergency calls indicating that a motorcyclist and two additional motorists had been injured after a hit-and-run accident caused a fatal collision between a motorcycle and an SUV in East Orlando. Authorities with the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) quickly rushed to the scene where they encountered 3 victims from each vehicle suffering from a varying amount of injuries, with the biker’s being the most severe of them all. The 27-year-old motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was immediately transported to a local hospital but sadly passed away shortly upon arrival due to the seriousness of her injuries. The other two victims sustained only minor injuries in the collision and were treated by medics at the scene.
After interviewing multiple witnesses, FHP officers were able to slowly piece together the events leading up to the collision and its aftermath. Their reports state that the victim was riding her motorcycle northbound along Lake Pickett Road behind an SUV that was traveling in the same direction. As the two vehicles approached the road’s intersection with Percival Road, an additional car driven by 22-year-old Kimberly Guzman Lijeron entered the scenario from the south. For reasons that are currently unknown, the young driver of this vehicle veered over into the oncoming lanes of traffic and crashed into the SUV. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist was unable to react in enough time to divert her bike away from the accident in front of her, and she collided with the rear-end of the sport utility vehicle.
Almost immediately after the accident occurred, the 22-year-old driver exited her car and fled the scene on foot. She was later found at the house of her 22-year-old friend Jaqueline Solano who had picked her up after the collision. Both women have since been arrested and are facing a smattering of life-changing charges including first-degree felony leaving the scene of a fatal crash for Guzman Lijeron, and felony charges of accessory after the fact and tampering with evidence for Solano.
