One Dead in Head-On Crash in Orange County

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on October 29, 2018

An investigation is underway into the death of a 44-year-old traveling along an Orange County road on Sunday, October 21st. According to reports from members of the Florida Highway Patrol working within Orange County, the auto accident happened around 3:30 in the morning and involved a motorcycle and a car.

A 44-year-old was riding on the back of a motorcycle being driven by a person who was not named in the initial report. They were traveling along the westbound lanes of State Road 414/the Apopka Expressway at the time. Also at this moment, a 2014 Kia was traveling in a western direction down the same road. Unfortunately, while the motorcycle was traveling down the eastern lanes, the Kia was also traveling down the eastern lanes.

The report does not indicate just why the Kia was driving the wrong way down State Road 414/the Apopka Expressway, and it also fails to state for just how long this had been going on, but it was as the two cars neared the 9th mile marker along this roadway that they entered one another’s paths. The Kia and the motorcycle collided with one another head-on, a sort of collision which is commonly known as being one of the most consistently devastating and fatal.

Both of the individuals on the motorcycle were thrown from their vehicle and onto the roadway. In the process, they each incurred significant injuries. When paramedics and EMTs arrived at the scene they immediately ascertained that the injuries sustained by the two on the motorcycle were highly serious. The worst of the injuries were sustained by the passenger on the motorcycle. It is not clear if they were taken from the scene of the incident to a hospital or if they received all of their treatment at the scene of the accident, but we do know that they were declared dead as a result of their injuries.

The motorcycle’s driver was taken from the location of the crash to Orlando Regional Medical Center where they were admitted as being in critical condition.

Charges against the driver of the Kia are pending. It is believed that this individual only suffered from minor injuries in the incident.
