Motorcyclist Killed During Multi-Vehicle Crash in Manatee County
Preliminary incident reports from troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol indicate that a 38-year-old man from Bradenton lost his life over the weekend after he was involved in a motorcycle accident along 3rd Avenue NE in Manatee County.
According to Florida Highway Patrol officers working within Manatee County, it was shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, November, 12, 2022, when a 38-year-old Bradenton resident was riding a motorcycle in the westbound direction of 3rd Avenue NE. As he approached the upcoming intersection with Upper Manatee River Road, the motorcyclist failed to yield for a stop sign, lost control of his bike, and crashed into the right side of an SUV that was travelling north on Upper Manatee River Road.
Moments later, a 60-year-old driver behind the wheel of a sedan entered the area and ran over the 38-year-old motorcyclist, who had been ejected from his bike and was laying in the roadway.
Multiple Manatee County emergency response teams and members of the Florida Highway Patrol were dispatched to the scene of the three-vehicle accident and arrived within a matter of minutes, however, despite their best medical efforts, the 38-year-old Bradenton motorcyclist had sustained severe injuries during the collision and had already passed away.
The 38-year-old driver of the SUV and her 15-year-old passenger, both from Parrish, were not injured during the auto accident. The 60-year-old Bradenton resident who was driving the sedan was also unharmed.
This case is currently under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. No official charges have been filed at this time.
