Motorcycle Crash Near Tampa Results in Serious Injury
An accident that took place involving a motorcycle in Clearwater, just outside of Tampa, is still under investigation as police from the Clearwater Police Department attempt to put all the pieces together to uncover just what took place to result in the crash and subsequent injuries. According to the report form the Clearwater Police Department, the incident happened on Thursday, June 6th, at the intersection of South Fort Harrison Avenue and Turner Street.
The precise details relating to the crash were not readily available in the hours and days following the incident. What we do know is that the crash, as mentioned above, involved a motorcycle. It is not clear if any other vehicles were involved in the incident, or the accident was a solo affair with just the motorcycle and its driver involved. It is also not known if the motorcyclist in question was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Crashes involving motorcycles are particularly dangerous as motorcycles are both incredibly fast and incredibly not built to protect their riders. It is extremely common for accidents involving motorcycles to result in severe injury or death of the motorcyclists. Often, this is directly the result of the rider or riders not wearing proper safety equipment (such as helmets), but even in cases where riders are as padded as possible it is still not uncommon for motorcyclists to sustain debilitating injuries when they are involved in auto accidents.
The crash that took place on the evening of June 6th in Clearwater is no exception.
It is not clear who notified the authorities regarding the incident, but soon there were paramedics, EMTs, and other first responders on the scene to treat the injured motorcyclist. While the initial investigation took place, Fort Harrison Street was closed all the way from Chestnut Street to Pine Street.
The motorcyclist was rushed to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg where they were then treated for the extremely serious injuries they sustained as a result of the crash. At the time of this writing, the condition of the motorcyclist is not publicly known. Further updates are expected from the Clearwater Police Department.
