Memorial Day Rear-End Collision Claims the Life of a Motorcyclist in Titusville
While the extended Memorial Day weekend was wrapping up and the celebrations and festivities were coming to a close, authorities with the Titusville Police Department were sadly tasked with starting an investigation into the death of a 29-year-old woman who was killed during a motorcycle accident yesterday afternoon.
According to preliminary accident reports from responding officers with the Titusville Police Department, it was approximately 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 30, 2022, when 29-year-old West Virginia resident Kristen Ann Kief was riding as a passenger on a motorcycle in the southbound direction of South Washington Avenue with 26-year-old Tyler John Zimmerman from Cocoa. As the pair approached the intersection of Riveredge Drive and South Washington Avenue, their Harley-Davidson was involved in a rear-end collision with 61-year-old Cocoa resident Vernon Terry Pierce who was behind the wheel of a 2001 Pontiac Grand AM GT.
Local Titusville emergency response teams and members of the Titusville Police Department were immediately dispatched to the scene of the crash where they discovered that the 29-year-old female was suffering from serious life-threatening injuries. She was quickly transported to a local hospital but due to her condition, she was unable to survive and passed away about half an hour later. The other motorcyclist, 26-year-old Tyler John Zimmerman, was said to have sustained minor injuries from the collision and is expected to survive. The 61-year-old driver of the Pontiac was unharmed during the incident.
Additional information surrounding this deadly motorcycle accident is unknown at this time, but more information will potentially be released to the public once the Titusville Police Department concludes its investigation.
