Fatal Orlando Motorcycle Accident on State Road 408 Kills Former Mayor’s Son
Tragedy struck two states on Wednesday, January 13th, 2021, after the son of a former New Jersey mayor was struck and killed in a fatal motorcycle vs. car accident shortly before midnight along State Road 408 in Orlando, Florida. The victim, along with his female passenger, were riding eastbound along the busy five-lane expressway when they rear-ended another vehicle on the roadway.
Although the investigation is currently ongoing, Florida Highway Patrol officers operating within Orange County and additional local law enforcement officials have managed to reconstruct most of the events leading up to the deadly rear-end collision. According to Orlando Police Lt. Eduardo J. Bernal, New Jersey natives Jason D. Rinker and his girlfriend passenger Kristi LoRé were travelling down the eastern lanes of S.R. 408 at approximately 11:55 p.m. Wednesday evening. As the pair approached Conway Road, the 45-year-old driver suddenly swerved his motorcycle which caused it to crash into the back-end of another car on the highway. The force of the collision was so great that both the driver and passenger were ejected from the motorcycle.
Emergency response teams arrived at the scene within minutes of the initial 9-1-1 call and employed life-saving techniques to both of the severely injured victims. Upon stabilization, the female passenger was transported to a local Orlando hospital where she is expected to make a full recovery. However, due to the severity of the injuries he sustained in the motorcycle accident, the driver sadly passed away.
An investigation is currently underway by the Florida Highway Patrol, although it is unclear at this time if any charges will be filed.
A GoFundMe page has since been created by the survivor’s family members in order to help with Ms. LoRé’s surmounting medical bills and Mr. Rinker’s burial and funeral expenses. Here at the Law Offices of James O. Cunningham, P.A., we’d like to extend our deepest condolences to everyone involved in this truly tragic accident.
