Crash Between Sedan and Motorcycle Leaves One Dead in Osceola County

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on September 19, 2020

Officers working within Osceola County were among the first to respond to an early morning crash involving a motorcycle and a sedan on Wednesday, September 9th. The incident remains under investigation at the time of this writing, but the many of the details relating to the incident were included in preliminary reports from emergency response crews.

It was shortly before 6:00 in the morning when a motorcyclist was traveling down U.S. Highway 192. The reports did not say whether the motorcyclist was driving down the eastern or western lanes. At the same time as the motorcycle was traveling along U.S. 192, a sedan was driving along Old Melbourne Highway. These two roadways intersect one another in Osceola County, and it was at this intersection that the motorcycle and the sedan came into direct contact with one another.

The investigation will focus on whether or not the intersection features a stoplight or stop sign and whether or not the driver of the sedan possessed the right of way at the time of the incident. It was after the sedan reached the intersection that they attempted to make a left turn onto the westbound lanes of U.S. 192. In doing so, they placed themselves in the path of the motorcycle. The motorcyclist was traveling at a fairly high rate of speed at this point and was not able to stop or avoid the sedan after it entered the roadway. The motorcycle struck the sedan with considerable force, and the rider lost control.

When the motorcycle hit the asphalt, the rider, a 38-year-old St. Cloud resident was thrown from the vehicle and onto the ground. The reports did not state whether or not this individual was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, but we do know that they suffered from severe injuries as a result of the collision. By the time emergency response crews reached the accident site, there was nothing that could be done for 38-year-old. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the sedan, a person who was not described in the reports, was not injured in the incident. It is believed that the crash remains under investigation with a high likelihood of future charges against the driver of the sedan.
