41-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed During a Collision in Manatee County
As family and friends continue to mourn the loss of a beloved father from Bradenton this week, authorities with the Florida Highway Patrol are furthering their investigation into the fatal motorcycle accident that also severely injured the victim’s 8-year-old son.
Multiple relatives and members of a Manatee County community held a special candlelight vigil at a popular taco restaurant on Tuesday in remembrance of 41-year-old David Parham who was tragically killed during an auto accident with another motorist last Friday afternoon.
According to early reports from troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol, it was approximately 1:30 p.m. on February 11, 2022, when 41-year-old husband and father of two David Parham was riding his motorcycle along with his 8-year-old son on 14th Street in Bradenton after finishing lunch at Tamiami Tacos. As the experienced motorcyclist was traveling down the street and approaching an upcoming intersection, a 71-year-old individual driving a white Kia sedan pulled out in front of Parham’s Harley-Davidson. Neither driver was unable to avoid the impending collision and the two vehicles crashed into each other.
Local Manatee County emergency response teams and officers with the Florida Highway Patrol were dispatched to the scene of the crash shortly after the initial 9-1-1 calls were received. Upon their arrival, they sadly discovered that the 41-year-old biker had sustained severe life-threatening injuries during the accident and did not survive the collision. His 8-year-old son Jase was found in serious condition with a shattered pelvis and was immediately transported to Tampa General Hospital for additional medical treatments.
“He had an MRI done yesterday. They were supposed to take his ventilator out, but we haven’t heard anything. He doesn’t even know his dad is gone, so it is going to be tough,” said the victim’s widow about her son in a press release.
A GoFundMe account has recently been created in order to help with funeral expenses, as well as any future surgeries and treatments for the 8-year-old son.
The 71-year-old driver is expected to be cited with a right-of-way violation. Additional charges may be applied pending the outcome of the case.
