Five Vehicle Pileup in Orlando Bus Accident
Following an Orlando bus accident involving five vehicles and critically injuring one, Florida Highway Patrol officials are searching for witnesses.
According to reports, the auto accident occurred at the intersection of John Young and Central Florida parkways at midday. The accident involved a Mears bus that, for reasons unknown, collided with a semi-truck. According to one witness who works nearby, the accident was so bad that the bus actually ended up inside the semi-truck’s trailer. Furthermore, a car ended up underneath the trailer. The bus driver, Douglas Haney, remains hospitalized.
A total of five vehicles were affected by the automobile accident, with six people requiring hospitalization.
According to a crash investigation, both the semi-truck and van were stopped at a red light on the Central Florida Parkway, heading northbound with the greenlight. High Patrol troopers are still trying to understand which way a black Audi and a black SUV, both of which were totaled during the accident, were traveling. However, one eye witness claims to be able to clear things up. According to their testimony, after the light turned green, the bus tried to dodge the Audi, but the Audi had already crashed into him. This essentially initiated a domino effect, with the bus crashing into the back of the truck, followed by a black car and a small white van.
Police reports list the driver of the Audi as Christian Del Gual, 19 years old, and the driver of the black SUV as Andrew Nelson, 32 years old. Accident investigators are currently reviewing surveillance from nearby traffic cameras in order to determine what really happened and to decide if any criminal charges will be brought.
