Car Crashes into Lynx Bus in Orlando

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on October 6, 2016

Early on Tuesday morning, a Lynx bus was driving eastward on Colonial Drive in Orlando when it was hit by a car that ran a red light at the intersection of Colonial Drive and Mercy Drive. According to the Orlando Police, the accident took place around 5:35am, when most of the city is still asleep and the roads are just beginning to fill with the early morning commuters. The bus, which was carrying passengers (although neither their destination nor their point of origin was not released in the statement), had a green light at the intersection and was following all traffic laws as it traveled through it. The other car, on the other hand, had a red light.

For reasons that are not yet clear, the other car (which has not been described) ran the red light and crashed directly into the bus. Due to the violence of the impact, three of the passengers in the Lynx bus were transported to a local hospital. The bus driver was also injured in the accident and transported to a hospital. The driver of the vehicle, who has not been named, suffered non-life-threatening injuries during the accident and was transported to a hospital. None of the injuries are believed to be tremendously severe, although the future impact an automobile accident might have on an individual is impossible to calculate.

As the investigation continues, more information will likely be released by the Florida Highway Patrol about the circumstances and reasons for this seemingly causeless accident. Currently, the driver of the car that ran the red light is being held at fault for the entire event, although, as has already been stated, it is unclear what exactly occurred inside the vehicle to make the driver unaware of the traffic signal.

For the injured passengers and driver of the Lynx bus, answers to these questions will likely not be enough to erase the damage they suffered in this event. Automobile injuries often do more damage than is initially noticeable, and the long-term effects of being in a car accident can frequently present continual health and financial difficulties for those involved.
