Wesley Chapel Man Killed During a Motorcycle Crash in Pasco County
Authorities with the Florida Highway Patrol working within Pasco County are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding a motorcycle accident that claimed the life of one biker and severely injured another this past Sunday morning along Jessamine Road in Dade City.
Early reports from the responding troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol indicate that it was close to 10 a.m. on November 28, 2021, when a 48-year-old man from Wesley Chapel was driving his motorcycle northbound down Jessamine Road. As the motorcyclist approached the street’s intersection with Amberlea Road, he drove his bike into the southbound lane of traffic in order to pass the slower-moving cars in front of him. After he performed this maneuver and attempted to return his vehicle to the correct lane, he clipped the side of another biker’s motorcycle in the process. The impact from this collision caused the first man’s motorcycle to overturn and slide across the roadway before finally coming to a complete rest on the grassy shoulder. The second motorcyclist, a 34-year-old man from St. Petersburg, also overturned and stopped in the middle of the street.
Pasco County emergency response teams and officers with the Florida Highway Patrol arrived at the scene of the accident within a matter of minutes after receiving their first calls from local 9-1-1 dispatchers. Upon their arrival, they quickly discovered that both motorcyclists were suffering from severe life-threatening injuries. The two victims were immediately stabilized for transportation by EMTs and taken to the nearest hospital to receive additional medical treatment. The 34-year-old St. Petersburg man remains in serious condition at the time of this writing, however, the 48-year-old Wesley Chapel man was unable to overcome his injuries and he passed away shortly after arrival.
No charges are expected to be filed in this case.
