Two Die in Orange County Motorcycle Crash

By Orlando Personal Injury Attorney on December 2, 2018

Two individuals were killed in a motorcycle accident on the night of Thursday, November 15th, after the bike they were riding on collided with the rear of a car traveling before them. According to the official report from the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident happened close to 8:00 at night along State Road 417, close to where this road intersects with State Road 528.

At this time, a 24-year-old was riding a Suzuki motorcycle. Behind them on the bike was a 21-year-old. One of these individuals was from the town of Casselberry, the other from Ocala. It is not known if either of the two were wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, but we do know that they were driving down the southern lanes of State Road 417 and that they were traveling at a rate of speed believed to be over the official limit.

In front of them on the road was a Toyota Camry while behind them was a Dodge Ram pickup truck. As the motorcycle approached the rear of the Camry, the driver either failed to see the car before them or else something occurred to make them believe that the car was in fact not directly in their path. This caused the motorcycle to collide with the back of the Camry while still traveling at full speed.

Both of the individuals traveling aboard the motorcycle were thrown from the vehicle and into the street. The driver of the pickup truck was reportedly unable to avoid striking at least one of these individuals after they struck the ground, although it is not clear if it was the driver or the passenger.

As a result of the collision and following impact by the Dodge Ram, both of the people initially riding aboard the motorcycle suffered from fatal injuries in the incident. It is believed that paramedics and EMTs reached the area shortly after the devastating crash took place but that there was nothing they could do for the two individuals thrown from the bike and they were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

This incident remains under investigation and more information will emerge as it becomes available.
