Teen Injured in Florida Motorcycle Accident Remains Hospitalized
A teenage girl who was injured several weeks ago in a Palm Beach motorcycle accident remains in the hospital. The injury stems from an accident that happened on US 1 on March 28th.
According to the police report of the accident, the teen was riding on a Honda Valkyrie motorcycle with her father when a Nissan pickup truck made a left turn in front of them. The motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the pickup, which was being driven by an 80-year-old male.
Both the father and daughter were injured in the accident. The father was taken to Health First Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida and was recently released. The daughter was taken to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital in Orlando, where she remains.
Family members have set up a fundraising page to help with the victims’ immediate medical expenses. However, both the daughter and father should be able to seek compensation for their injuries by filing a personal injury lawsuit against the driver of the Nissan pickup truck. To do so, they must be able to show that the driver of the pickup truck acted negligently and that this negligent act caused their injuries.
Based on the facts at hand, it would seem that the truck driver failed to yield to the oncoming motorcycle. This failure to yield would be considered a negligent act and, unless the motorcycle was speeding, should give the two victims legal grounds for seeking compensation. If successful, they can receive compensation not only for their medical expenses, but also for any future medical expenses, loss of income, future loss of income and pain and suffering.
